I agree that's probably the pragmaic answer.  Though it probably has to be carefully weighed up against the possibility that a "proper coalition" might get some of our program implemented that would otherwise not.  For example, although again unlikely, I see people calling for us to consider a coalition if we can get a cast iron deal on PR, say.
