Oh yeah - I spoke - in two
Oh yeah - I spoke - in two debates actually!
But they had had Andrew Stunnel doing the opening keynote just before the affordable housing debate so I rewrote my speech on the fly making much more about how we would never achieve long term affordability and equity without LVT and spent two minutes on that and then didn't really leave enough time to explain the CLT stuff so just plugged it and pointed people to my leaflets.
I was called first too, and had only really seen the motion when I arrived at Newbury. If it weren;t for a specific invitation to speak about CLTs I would certainly not have supported the motion, and Tony and Martha spoke and voted against because it actually proposed handing more money over to landowners as landlords by concentrating on needing more subsidy for affordable housing.
But we both got a plug for LVT in and I ended up getting on the Regional Policy Comittee to boot...so a better motion next time I hope!
