I was just ignoring the tirade PT - since I put so many caveats in my post about whether ID was telling it as it is or putting a spin on it and leaving it up to the reader to decide.

The point, however, was that if half of what he said in that post is tue it's not a very nice prospect!

anon - that got completely incoherent near the end of that volley, but we got your gist. Lib-Dems calling the electorate of Norfolk North to check whether they were aware that Dale is homosexual is an episode that I presume you won't be describing.

No, not everyone should read Iain Dale's diary.

My god, we constantly laud this man as some sort of purveyor of the truth. Well if Iain Dale says it, it must be the truth". Remember what he said about Norfolk North last year. If he always told the truth he would not have had to put out an apology on his leaflets to the Lib Dem Norman Lamb for lies that he had told and if he always told the truth he would not be MP for there now with a good majority as his blog always claimed."

Everyone should read this. Iain Dale's Diary: EXCLUSIVE: Sir Ian Blair Says New Terror Attack Could Lead to Internment. What you make of it is up to you of course, but such a scenario has been in the "narrative" of many dismissed as conspiracy theorists since 9/11 and probably before.

Of course there's a world of difference between a more or less random act of terror by terrorists and the authorities cooking something up in order to be able to impose such restrictions (the most strident would even suggest, in the US at least, the aim is martial law and a suspension of the constitution). But if the establishment is even discussing the idea - and of course we must be open to the possibility that this is Iain Blair speculating on what people will clamour for rather than leading the charge himself - it is truly apalling.
