I hate enforced boycotts.

If you want to boycott something, by all means do it. Explain to people the reasons, lobby all you like, but don't try and force others to do the same through bans.

If enough people don't want to buy coca-cola products and will buy others then the bar will supply others, don't try to coerce others into following your boycott.

I'm pretty sure it's been Coke on the NUSSL deal for a few years now.

Removing the most popular soft drink is hardly a great way to discourage excess alcohol consumption. Unless Pepsi is what's currently supplied via NUS Services (as it was when I was a sabb), in which case it's a bit of an empty gesture...

"A phenomenal capacity to achieve real change"

So says Sussex University's SU President Dan Glass in: Student union bars ban Coca-Cola, about how the union has decided to remove Coke from its outlets.

So, ironic that I noted this today too Nestlé reports profit jump. That last great NUS anti-corporation target seems to have been mortally wounded by the boycott, doesn't it?

Personally, I boycott both, and a whole load of other things, and encourage others to do likewise if I get the opportunity, but banning it doesn't seem to make a jot of difference. And I'll bet the Sussex SU has lower turnover through its shops beyond just the value of the Coke it won't be selling. The losers? Their members one suspects.
