Lebanon might be (relatively) peaceful

...and the powers that be may be talking.
But bugger that, the IDF needs something to do so they are practicing on anything that moves in Beit Hanoun, Gaza:
The town of Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip has been under siege since early Wednesday.
The Israeli army says it is trying to root out Palestinian rocket squads, who fire from Gaza into Israel.
Ibrahim al-Za'anin, a 55-year-old Palestinian Authority employee, describes conditions for him and his family in his hometown.
Lest we forget why the world sometimes seems out to get us. I cannot imagine what it must be like to live anywhere within Israel's sphere of influence when they decide to project their power.

The obvious thing to do would be to work with the palestinian security forces, but Israel won't do that because they don't recognise palestine, it's government, police or security forces. They had the chance to work with Fatah, but instead besieged a Nobel Peace Prize holder and reduced the palestinian police and security infrastructure to rubble.
Instead it chooses to act unilaterally and grossly disproportionately.
The actual Israeli response seems to have been putting a large civilian area under siege and shooting unarmed protestors.. this has been how Israel has 'enforced peace' in the past - bulldozing houses so that it has a clean line of fire, shooting civilians and protestors.. generally swatting at a wasps nest and getting more frustrated when it doesn't work.
Neither side can really be trusted to implement their own security - both sides have been infiltrated by zealots who wish only to destroy the other side, so they need an independant third party and a Demilitarised Zone that is even accross both sides land, (rather than the landgrabbing wall).
If you look at Cyprus you'll see that the 'green line' and Nicosia is secured by the UN, and works perfectly well. I've been there and seen it. There is no logistical reason for it not to work for Palestine/Israel, even taking Jeruselem into account.

Hmmmm Jock
So how would you respond to the rocket attacks from Gaza onto Israeli towns?
